Monica Tap’s practice opens up a space between landscape and abstraction, and navigates the terrain between painting and other media. She is the recipient of many grants and awards, including from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada for her project, “Translation as a Strategy of Renewal in Painting.” Her work is represented in public, corporate and private collections. Trained at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Tap now teaches in the School of Fine Art and Music at the University of Guelph.
